Stuttering by Marty Jezer (Hardcover - 24 June, 1997)
Our Price: £16.99 "As a stutterer who is always afraid of speaking but is rarely able to keep his mouth shut, I have a story to tell". So writes Marty Jezer in this account of stuttering that, by necessity, is also a work about speaking, silences, and the pleasures and pitfalls of everyday communication. Jezer delves into his lifelong struggle with fluent speech. "I live on both sides of the disability dilemma", he says. "As long as I keep silent, I look like a normal fluent person. But every time I talk, I put this identity on the line. The need to speak and the probability of stuttering are the dominant facts of my life." This is a book about denial, fear, persistence, pluck, and ultimate triumph |

Stuttering : Science, Therapy, & Practice: The Most Complete Book About Stuttering by Thomas D. Kehoe
Paperback - March 1997 Our Price: £22.07 The subtitle of "Stuttering: Science, Therapy & Practice," by Thomas David Kehoe, MBA, is "The Most Complete Book About Stuttering," which is a nice claim considering that the book has only 156 pages. However, it is an intensive 156 pages, covering every facet of stuttering, from science to therapy to practice. In addition to being a very ambitious book, it is also a rarity in that it is written by a person who is not a speech therapist. Because of this, the book has an informal tone. |
